Leaving for a trip and realizing you never renewed your birth control? Wondering what that new rash is? Need advice to kick this cold ASAP and wondering what over-the-counter medication is going to be most effective? We've all been there when we need access to healthcare advice fast to allow us to get on with our busy days.
As a resident of British Columbia, many of these common situations can be solved through an appointment with a licensed pharmacist. Through the TELUS Health MyCare app, you can see a pharmacist and get faster relief, often with shorter wait times. We asked the pharmacy team to help us understand when we should use virtual pharmacy appointments on the TELUS Health MyCare app.

Can I book a follow-up with the same pharmacist?
Yes, you can. If the pharmacist's schedule permits, you can select an appointment with the same pharmacist you've seen before using the app.
When should I see a doctor or nurse practitioner instead of a pharmacist?
While pharmacists can handle many common health concerns, there are times when it's best to consult a doctor or nurse practitioner:
- If your health concern falls outside the scope of the 21 minor ailments
- For severe or complex health issues
- When you need lab requisitions or specialist referrals
Our virtual pharmacists are here to provide convenient, accessible healthcare for minor ailments and contraception needs. For more complex health concerns, they'll guide you to the appropriate healthcare provider.
