Our first Mental Health Barometer provides evidence-based findings, actions and insights to help you reshape your organization's wellbeing strategy.

Drawing from 14 TELUS Mental Health Index (MHI) reports, each surveying 3,000 Canadian workers in 2024 and early 2025, it offers leaders a clear picture of workplace challenges over time and how to address them. 

Key trends and findings 

Mental health in the workplace continues to decline

  • 40 per cent of workers face constant stress.
  • The dramatic increase in high mental health risk highlights growing challenges in the workplace.

70 per cent of employees indicate a recent decline in productivity

  • Financial stress remains significant, with 49 per cent citing it as their primary source of personal stress.
  • Women face greater challenges, and are 50 per cent more likely to feel extremely burnt out. 

A positive workplace culture fosters engagement and retention

  • Workers in high-trust organizations report feeling more engaged, less stressed and burnt out.
  • 33 per cent of employees would prefer better support for their wellbeing over a 10 per cent salary increase.
