Balancing the health benefits needs of a multigenerational workforce

Written by TELUS Health | September 17, 2024

With as many as five generations of people working together under the same company banner, employers are increasingly finding that they have an age-diverse workforce.

Today’s multigenerational composition – some say a first in modern history – can be attributed to Gen Z employees entering the workforce while many of the massive baby boomer generation still remain on the job. Today, baby boomers make up 18 percent of the US workforce, while Gen Zers make up 15 percent.

In such a diverse workforce, employees span the full range of life stages: from paying off student loans and raising young families to caring for elderly parents, and from looking at starter homes to contemplating retirement. These differences make it challenging for organizations to create an inclusive workplace for people of all ages and backgrounds while addressing their varied needs and expectations.

This eBook explores the generational differences between today’s employees, and how employers can help build and sustain an engaged, productive workforce with flexible health benefits plans.
